RONGAI ROUTE

The Kilimanjaro Rongai Route stands apart as a unique and less-trodden path to the summit, offering climbers an alternative perspective and a quieter, more secluded journey.

This is the only Mt Kilimanjaro Hiking Route which approaches the summit from the northern side of the mountain, near the border with Kenya. This distinct starting point not only provides a refreshing change of scenery but also offers climbers the opportunity to explore a less-travelled region of Kilimanjaro, away from the crowds and hustle of the more popular routes.

When Climbing Kilimanjaro by means of the Rongai Route, climbers are encouraged to opt for the seven-day itinerary over the six-day option to maximize their chances of a successful summit bid. The 7 Day Rongai Route Itinerary includes a strategically placed acclimatization day at Mawenzi Tarn Camp, allowing climbers to adjust to the higher elevation gradually and reduce the risk of altitude-related illnesses.
